Valentine's Day Origami: Star Tatos

A tato is a traditional Japanese purse, a kind of container that can be used to store flat items. Tatos can also be used as an envelopes or letter-folds, to send messages to your love ones on Valentine's Day.

The Star Tatos in the picture above were created by Tomoko Fuse. The diagrams can be found in her book, Origami Wrappings, ISBN 441630501X.
I folded each tato with a 6" (150 mm) square of duo origami paper.

Valentine's Day Origami: Letter Envelopes

Hand made letter envelopes are a nice and thoughtful way to send love messages on Valentine's Day. These are my favorite ones:
Letter Envelopes with Heart Locks
The envelopes shown above are traditional models. The heart stopper, which is the same for both models, is a Tomoko Fuse's design.
The instructions to fold them can be found in Tomoko Fuse's books Home Decorating with Origami and, Origami Wrappings, ISBN 441630501X.
The envelope on the left is folded with an A4 size rectangle of batik paper, and the hearts with two 3"(75 mm) squares of washi paper.
The envelope on the right is folded with a 8" (200 mm) square of scrapbook paper, and the heart with a 3" (75 mm) square of origami paper.

Origami Toys: Traditional Horse - New Video

The Chinese year of the horse is about to start on January 31th, 2014. Here is very simple traditional Chinese horse that you can fold to celebrate it. It's also a fun model to play with,  just tap its tail and it will flip!
Origami Toys: Traditional Horse - New Video
I didn't mind that this model involves using scissors, it's so fun!
I folded the model in the picture with a 6" (150 mm) square of origami paper.

Here is a video with the instructions to fold it and watch it flip!.

This is also a very good model to apply your creativity skills. Just treat the model as base, and keep shaping it to make your own version. I hope you like mine!  It's folded with a 6"(150 mm) square of Gold Kraft Backed Paper.

Origami Boxes: Daisy Box

Happy New Year 2014! I would like to thank you all for keep visiting my blog!

Let start the year with a beautiful model, a Daisy Box, designed by Flaviane Koti. Great for Valentine's Day!
Origami Boxes: Daisy Box
The instructions are available in the book Origami em Flor, by Flaviane Koti and Vera Young.
The Daisy on the top of the lid has four pockets and the lid has four tabs, so no glue is required for the assembly. The flower is a modular design, and is folded with two 3" x 6" (75 mm x 150 mm) rectangles of duo origami paper.
The lid and the base of the box are folded with one square of 6" (150 mm) scrapbook paper each.
