Mother's Day Origami: Flower by Román Díaz and Traditional Chinese Vase

In many countries, Mother's Day is approaching. If you are unsure about what to give to your mother in her day, here is an idea.

Mother's Day Origami: Flower by Román Díaz and Traditional Chinese Vase

The Flower was designed by Román Díaz. The diagram can be found in the 5th issue of the magazine 4 Esquinas. The magazine 4 Esquinas is an excellent online publication that can be downloaded for free. It includes origami diagrams and very interesting technical articles.
The Chinese Vase is a traditional model, that is also known as Verdi's vase. The diagram can be found in this link (look for Verdi's Vase).

I folded the flower from an 8" (200 mm) square of artisan paper and the vase from a 8" (200 mm) square of batik paper.
The folding sequence of the flower involves a lot of pre-creasing and then a final collapse. The folding sequence of the vase is almost the opposite: Many collapsed creases and then a final "un-collapse."
