Kusudama Flower and Pot - New Video

This Kusudama Flower and Pot model is a very fun fold. It is made assembling three kusudama flowers (traditional model), two of them with small variations. This is a very simple idea. I will not be surprised if it already has occurred to someone else before me.

Here are the instructions:

For the model in the video, I used the following papers:

• one 6" (150 mm) square sheet of scrapbook paper, for the pot.
• one 4" (100 mm) square of green kami, same color on both sides, for the leaves.
• one 4" (100 mm) square of orange washi, same color on both sides, for the flower.

The kusudama flower on the top can be replaced by other flowers, like a traditional lily. Which other flowers do you think will best complement the pot?

Valentine's Day Card - New Origami Model and Video

If you haven't prepared your Valentine's Day cards yet, here is a one more last minute idea for a card.

Here are the instructions:

The card is made of three pieces of paper: One for the envelope, one for the heart that acts as a lock, and another for the message that goes inside.

For the model in the video, I used the following papers:

• one 12" (300 mm) square sheet of scrapbook paper with Valentine's motifs for the envelope
• one 6" (150 mm) of red tant paper for the heart
• one 5 1/2" (138 mm) square of pink card stock for the message. I printed poem in a letter size sheet of card stock and then cut it to size using craft scissors.

Heart Flower - New Origami Model and Video

As I mentioned in my previous post, Hearts can be connected in groups of four to create Heart Flowers of beautiful patterns, like the ones in the pictures below:

This time I thought it would be nice to make a video with the instructions, so I gave it a try. The video contains the instructions to fold a Heart Module, then to connect the four modules into a Heart Flower, and in the last part, it also explains how to fold an individual Heart.
